Administration and Maintenance of the Online Survey of Micro-and-Small Enterprises (OSOME)

As crucial components of the market economy, micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) serve as the economy's capillary system, a reservoir for employment, and a stabilizer for society. Industrial clusters, where most MSMEs operate, are instrumental in promoting local economic development, fostering employment, enhancing economic resilience, and achieving shared prosperity. This research is based on the in-person Enterprise Survey for Innovation and Entrepreneurship in China (ESIEC) and the Online Survey of Micro and Small Enterprises (OSOME), both led by the Peking University Enterprise Big Data Research Center. As part of this project, we conduct quarterly OSOME surveys while maintaining and expanding the historical ESIEC sample database, providing a foundation for in-depth research on MSMEs. By leveraging comprehensive survey data in combination with administrative and other big data, we analyze the challenges MSMEs face in their development and explore targeted solutions. The project aims to promote the development of micro, small, and medium enterprises, foster value co-creation, and drive shared prosperity, ultimately enhancing the overall competitiveness of industrial clusters.
