Fertility Levels, Realization Rates, and the Development of Pronatalist Policies in China
Boosting fertility rates and achieving moderate population growth are crucial for maintaining a balanced population structure, which is aligned with China’s long-term development strategy. This research adopts a life-cycle perspective to estimate fertility levels and recuperation effects. The concept of the "fertility realization rate" is introduced to examine the gap between desired and actual fertility. By providing a comprehensive assessment of existing pronatalist policies in China, the study suggests a customized policy package with implementation pathways, tailored to China's unique context to effectively promote fertility.
