Research on Enhancing Total Factor Productivity
This research aims to deepen scholarly understanding of the evolution of China’s total factor productivity (TFP) over the past forty years while identifying its future potential and trends. Utilizing the growth accounting method, the study measures and analyzes national TFP growth and its phased changes, systematically illustrating the internal relationship between China’s economic growth and TFP growth during the period. Based on different investment rate scenarios, the research projects the annual TFP growth targets required to meet China’s long-term development goals for 2035. Additionally, the study explores pathways to enhance TFP growth, concentrating on key areas and potential breakthroughs, and proposes a series of policy recommendations designed to unlock new drivers of economic growth.
