2023年开学典礼上，“未来领导者”国际本科项目新生代表CURE Matheo分享了对燕园生活的憧憬和对求学之旅的规划，以下为发言全文。
Some of you might come from the Guangxi province with the high mountains and the infinite rivers.
Some of you might come from Chengdu with all the skyscrapers, and the asphalt.
Some of you might come from abroad.
Despite the diversity and the different backgrounds of all the people present in this room, I believe there is but one thing that bind us all:
Having a dream, an objective, a motivation that pushes us to go further and further.
No matter who you are, no matter where you come from, just follow the light.
I come from a small town that nobody knows in France. There, the rigorousness of education and the competitivity among students is not as high as in China. So when I arrived in 燕园, I felt proud but at the same time my mind wasn’t at rest: I did succeed to step on this campus but I haven’t been through the fierce competition that Chinese people have to go through. As time went by, rather than feeling ashamed, I learnt how to trade this state of mind with humility and open mindedness.
I have a sincere wish for all the people in this room: I truthfully hope that you accept yourselves as you are. We are the future leaders; we are supposed to be the ones who bring change to society. In order to pursue our dreams, it all begins with ourselves.
春有百花秋有月，夏有凉风冬有雪，若无闲事挂心头，便是人间好时节。
